Frequently Asked Questions: In-Home Grooming Experience
1. What should I expect during the in-home grooming session?
During your in-home grooming session, your groomer will bring all the necessary equipment, including a grooming table, a foldable tub, dryer, and other tools to ensure a professional grooming experience. The groomer will take care of your pet’s grooming needs from start to finish, all while keeping them comfortable.
2. Do I need to prepare anything before the groomer arrives?
Yes! Please make sure to provide a clean and clear area for the groomer to set up their equipment. A spacious, safe, and quiet space is ideal for the grooming session, so your pet can relax and the groomer can work efficiently.
3. Can I watch the grooming session?
You are welcome to observe the grooming session, but we kindly ask that you try not to hover over your pet. Some dogs can become anxious if they feel they are trying to get to you, which can make the process more stressful for them. A calm, supportive presence works best.
4. Will the groomer bring all the necessary tools?
Yes, the groomer will bring everything needed for the session, including a grooming table, foldable tub, dryer, clippers, brushes, and other necessary grooming tools. You don’t need to worry about supplying anything unless specifically requested.
5. What if my dog gets anxious or nervous during grooming?
Your groomer is experienced in handling nervous pets and will take extra care to make the grooming process as stress-free as possible. If your dog is particularly anxious, please let the groomer know so they can adjust their approach accordingly.
6. How long will the grooming session take?
The length of the grooming session depends on your pet’s size, coat condition, and the type of grooming services requested. Typically, a grooming session can take between 1 to 2 hours, but your groomer will provide an estimate when you schedule the appointment.
7. Can I still request special grooming services (e.g., nail trims, ear cleaning)?
Yes! Special requests like nail trimming, ear cleaning, and teeth brushing can be included in your grooming session. Be sure to let the groomer know about any specific services you'd like when booking your appointment.
8. Is it necessary to prepare my pet before grooming?
It’s helpful if your pet is brushed regularly and in between appointments to upkeep the hair and prevent matting. Your groomer will take care of everything from start to finish, including bathing and brushing if necessary. If your pet has any specific needs (e.g., medical conditions or sensitivities), please inform the groomer ahead of time.
9. What happens if my dog doesn’t cooperate during the grooming?
If your pet is too anxious or difficult to handle, the groomer will take a break to reassess and make sure they’re not stressed. We prioritize your pet's comfort, so if additional time or a different approach is needed, your groomer will accommodate accordingly.
10. How should I pay for the grooming session?
Payment details will be provided when you book the appointment. Most groomers accept various payment methods, including credit cards, cash, or digital payment options.
11. What if I need to cancel or reschedule my appointment?
Please notify the groomer as soon as possible if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. A 24-hour notice is required to avoid a cancellation fee. If you cancel within 24 hours, a fee of 50% of the grooming cost will apply. This allows the groomer to adjust their schedule and accommodate other clients. Be sure to ask about the cancellation policy when you book.
12: Do same-day emergency appointments incur any additional fees?
Yes, same-day emergency appointments will incur a $40 fee. This fee helps cover the cost of Uber transportation, as I’m traveling with delicate grooming equipment, and same-day bookings don’t allow me to properly prepare in advance. Thank you for understanding, and I look forward to providing the best care for your pet!
13. What is your policy on matting?
We believe in humanity over vanity, and for the safety and comfort of your dog, we do not offer full-body dematting. Dematting can be painful for your dog and may cause damage to the coat, leading to more matting in the future. If your pet has full-body matting, we will opt to start over and trim the coat short to ensure your pet’s comfort.
Please understand that groomers don’t determine the length of the coat—the matting does.
We must be able to get underneath the matting to properly groom your pet. If full-body matting is present and a short trim is required, you will be asked to sign a Matted Waiver acknowledging the decision. If you choose to opt out of the full groom due to matting, there will be a 50% cancellation fee to cover the inconvenience
